Amaravathi Dam

Constructed – The Dam built across the Amaravathi river in1957, During the K Kamaraj‘s administration in Tamil Nadu.
Located – Amaravathi Nagar is located in the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary near Udumalpet on Kerala State Highway 17 (SH 17). Water flows to this river from Pambar river and Chinnar river.
Surface – Amaravathi Reservoir is 9.31 square kilometers in area and 33.53 meters deep.
Purpose – Main purpose of this dam is irrigation, flood control and also four megawatts of electrical generating capacity
installed.
