When you plan a one-day trip to Kodaikanal from Palani, you need to plan properly so that you will be satisfied with your trip. The following things should be considered before starting the travel:

You can travel to kodaikanal from Palani by Bike, Car or Government buses.
By Bike or Car
If you are travelling to Kodaikanal by your own Bike or Car then you need to start your trip at 6.00 AM from Palani. Up to Karuppan temple there is flat road and hills start from this temple. Fill petrol in your vehicle near the Palani-Kodaikanal Check post petrol station because the next petrol station is in Kodaikanal only.
Things to see during Palani to Kodaikanal trip
When you travel on the Palani to Kodaikanal hills road, you can first see the Palar Dam View Point. From this viewpoint, you can see a beautiful view of the Palar Dam and lush green plants. Palar dam view point is a must visit place when you travel to Kodaikanal from Palani.
After this viewpoint, you can see the lush green trees and plants. Driving in kodaikanalhairpin bends is a bit challenging, so drive slowly. There are 14 hairpin bends in kodaikanalAfter some distance, you can see the small village called Savarikadu. There are a few shops where you can buy some snacks and tea.
Varathama Nathi Dam View is another view point to watch during your travel, You can see this view point near Bose hotel in Kombaikadu village. You can take some rest in this hotel or after few distance travel you can see another hotel government buses are stop on this hotel for snacks and tea. After a few hairpin bends, you can see the beautiful Palani view point. From this view point you can see the beautiful view of Palani temple and the entire Palani town. Afterward, you can take a stroll through the enchanting forest of Eucalyptus trees near Melpallam village.. This forest of Eucalyptus trees is a beautiful place for a photoshoot. You can also find some small shops selling seasonal fruits, tea stalls, chocolates, etc.
Then, as you travel towards Kodaikanal, after covering some distance, you will come across the picturesque Vadakavunji village. The climate in this area is very cool, and sometimes there is mist, so drive carefully. On the way to Perumal Malai, you will see beautiful valleys, some small waterfalls, lush greenery, and trees, as well as another view of the Palar Dam and Palani view point. Additionally, you can also see some villages like B.L Shed, Kumbur Vayal, Vellaiparai, and Pethuparai Junction. After the B.L Shed village, there are waterfall, so don’t miss it.
After reaching Perumal Malai, you can travel on the Kodai Road towards Kodaikanal. Palani Road and Kodai Road join to form the same road. Kodaikanal is located 10 km away from Perumal Malai. During the journey, you can enjoy the beautiful lush greenery plants and trees. After traveling some distance, you can see a beautiful waterfall before reaching the Kodaikanal checkpost.
Upon reaching the Kodaikanal checkpost, you will be warmly welcomed by the Silver Cascade Falls. I am sure that you will feel refreshed after seeing this waterfall. You can take photos and do some shopping here, but beware of the monkeys. There are many monkeys here, so keep your belongings safe.
You can reach Kodaikanal depending on your speed. Try to reach by 8:30 AM so that you can have breakfast, if not taken, for 30 minutes and start your travel at 9:00 AM.
You can first visit the Upper Lake View and then move to Moir Point via the Kodaikanal Observatory Road. You will see the Pine Forest, Silent Valley, Pillar Rock, and Guna Caves, all of which are located on the same road. After visiting all these places, you can spend some time at Liril Falls. Then, you can do some shopping, as there are a lot of shops available in that route, such as JAS Oil and Spices.
After you reach city you can visit some other places like La saleth chruch, Coaker’s walk, Bryant park and Kodaikanal Lake.
Try to start your journey to home town at least 5.00 PM or 6.00 PM. Then only you can reach Palani 7.00 to 8.00 PM.
If you do not have a bike or car, or if you are not comfortable with hill driving, do not worry, as you can travel by bus from Palani.
By Bus

Palani to Kodaikanal Bus Timing
The first bus starts at Palani bus stand at 4:15 AM and the next bus starts at 5:15 AM. The Palani to Kodaikanal bus fare is only 60 Rupees, and you should book your ticket in advance to avoid difficulty during the peak season. The ticket counter is located near the place where Kodaikanal buses stop in Palani bus stand.
Try to catch one of these buses then only you can reach Kodaikanal before 8.30 AM. This bus will stop in a small hotel near Kombaikadu where you get some snacks.
Once you reach Kodaikanal several travel agents will come and contact you for a tour.
You can choose any one of them, and they will pick you up in their vehicle and take you to the various places for a fee of around 300 Rs. Finally, they will drop you off at Kodaikanal Lake.

The first place on your Kodaikanal one day trip plan is the Upper Lake View, located in Upper Lake Road.
You can reach this viewpoint either by taking the Observatory Road and then turning onto the Upper Lake Road, or by directly traveling on the Upper Lake Road.
